VPPPA: VPP Online and annual self-evaluations
The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants' Association (VPPPA) was founded in 1985 and is an American nonprofit with more than 2,200 member sites.
- Annual Self-Evaluations, with injury and illness rates calculated automatically
- Up to3x faster
- in the VPPPA community
- 2,200+sites
The challenge
To stay in the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program, participants must submit Annual Self-Evaluations and are re-evaluated every three to five years. The paper-based process was long, complex and admin-heavy, and it didn't support collaboration or year-round improvement.
VPPPA partnered with AuditSoft to create a platform where VPP sites complete their assessments electronically, in a collaborative, automated and standardized process.
The solution
VPPPA and AuditSoft consulted federal OSHA officials and VPP state managers. AuditSoft built VPP Online from those insights, then a select group tested it on the 2022 self-evaluation.
Pilot testers liked that several people could work in the report at once, that they could add PDFs, images, charts and spreadsheets, and that injury and illness data carries over from year to year.
Results
VPP Online gives 20+ team members one place for report information and documents, and calculates the statistics the report needs, including injury and illness rates by NAICS code. Sites can reuse the same standard process each year.
Members also use VPP Online year-round to organize safety initiatives, track progress, generate reports and action plans, and check their readiness for the VPP program.
We've found AuditSoft to be a wonderful partner that's been receptive to the suggestions we've had to enhance the product. The feedback from members has been overwhelmingly positive.
